For two decades, the California Consortium for Urban Indian Health (CCUIH) has worked alongside Urban Indian Organizations, Tribal Nations, community leaders, and advocates to advance the health and well-being of American Indian and Alaska Native people across California.

What began as a shared vision for a stronger, more connected Urban Indian health system has grown into a statewide movement—rooted in culture, strengthened by partnership, and driven by a commitment to high-quality care.

2006

A collective vision

CCUIH is established with a vision of bringing California's Urban Indian Organizations together around a shared commitment to improving health outcomes and strengthening Native communities.

2007 -2020

Building a statewide network

CCUIH grew alongside its member organizations, creating opportunities for collaboration, policy advocacy, technical assistance, workforce development, and shared learning across California.

2020-2026

Responding together

As communities face unprecedented challenges, CCUIH and Urban Indian Organizations come together to support Native people, strengthen healthcare infrastructure, and ensure that Native voices remain at the center of critical health conversations.

CCUIH continues to bring together Urban Indian Organizations, Tribal leaders, healthcare partners, policymakers, funders, and community advocates to advance health equity and strengthen the Urban Indian health system.

Twenty years later, the vision that brought CCUIH together continues to grow.

We celebrate two decades of partnership, leadership, resilience, and community—and prepare for what comes for the next seven generations.
